The Lord of the Rings or why not to mess with midgets

I can’t quite stand the current entertainment industry, all the new animes out are “slice of life” that i wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot steralised barge pole wielded by someone else on the other side of space, films are mostly remakes of old movies and stupid animations, and the game industries new console generation gathering on the horison fills me with dejection, like watching a porridge based hurricane. The only things i’m looking forward to are the hobbit part 2 and the possible english dub of attack on titan in the near future

So i’m guess theres only one thing left to do…

Stalk Izzy!

i mean retro review…

People are often left confused as to what my opinion of the lord of the rings is, what with me using phrases like “BEST FILMS EVER!”. The trilogy holds a firm position in my super star tag-team line up of genuinly best films of all time, these are the films that launched my love of nerd culture that eventually led me to anime, so thanks Peter Jackson you handsomly bearded man you.

The films succeed in every definable aspect: the acting is beyond awe inspiring especially on the part of Viggo Mortensen and Ian Mckellen. They truly bring their roles to life, and they are not over acting, unlike other book adaptations i could mention *cough*Emma Watson*cough*Ed Speleers*cough*Jennifer Lawrence*cough*everyone in dragon ball evolution*cough*… sorry about that i had something in my throat.

The lord of the rings is a fantasy series, well of course it is, it is literaly the serise that invented the genre. The trillogy follows an unlikely band of heros on a quest to defeat an evil lord by destroying his magic jewelery. The plot of films is easy to follow but also has a decent number twists and developments to keep a viewer interested.

The cg in this movie and in Peter jacksons generly is first class, the special effects are , you may need to sit down for this one, better than jurassic park. A film with cg better than jurassic park is an event so rare i can sense M.Night.Shyamalan shouting “OH MY WHAT A TWIST”. Every detail from the smallest blot of ink to the largest city is perfectly realised and so  (air quote) “epic” it will take your breath away.

The scenery of rural new zealand is beautifull enough to emote a jaded mountain goat. The use of light and camera shots is truley exquisite. All of the panning shots mix with the orchestral music perfectly creating an unparalleled experiance.

Many people i know, i say people i mean over evolved chimps, don’t like the serise saying (please raed this next part in a dismissive voice to show how stupid these people are) “its all about walking and nothing ever happens” they then get slapped for not having good taste.

The moviee has pacing giving an appropriate length of time to explain the charectors and setting. Like all the old doctor who episodes where an elderly man would spend 4 hour faffing about before the low budget monster turned up. A type of film that would never get made to day because… er… *points at the jersy shore* thats why.

The charector are interesting and witty and engaging and lt and lots of other really nice words that show i’m totally not biased.

I’ve learnt that you can tell somethings about peoples personalities depending on their favorite charector:

If their favorite charector if gandalf they read the books andenjoy a well developed charector.

If legolas they are less nerdy than other fans, these are usualy the better looking of a group of fans, i could say they are not “propper” fans but i’m not a twat

If gimli they love dunges and dragons

If golem they need to be kept away from children

If arwen they are a hopeless romantics

If aragorn they are (or think of themselves as) a strong silent bad-ass

If sam they are overtly camp

If frodo they are short and projecting rather hard

And if like me their favorite charector is Tom bombadil they should be kept for parties because they drink waky juice out f a clown shoe.
